Freelance (2018-)

Process reengineering of logistics of new arrivals and moves and central management of meeting and training rooms for the European Commission until end of 2020.

Advising an EU institution’s data protection officer on compliance with the new regulation, updating of the IT system of data processing records and for documentation of related issues, training and guidance documents and handling data subject requests.

Lecturing for the European Academy of Taxes, Economics and Law on fraud prevention.

Member of the EPSO Jury for AD officials in data protection till 2019.

Blogging and writing articles on personal data protection and other topics.

Publications Office of the European Union (2006-2017)

Head of unit, internal control coordinator, data protection coordinator. Responsible also for the evaluation and the financial control function and coordination of document management.

Reviewed operations processing personal data and prepared their notifications and privacy statements, handled questions from staff and data subjects, held trainings among others on privacy by design to IT staff.

Configured and developed the internal control, risk management and fraud prevention system and managed its operation, reviewed operations processing personal data and prepared their notifications and privacy statements, handled questions and complaints. Sebestyén és Társa Bt. (own consultancy) (2004-2006)

Consulted in financial mediation, on the impact of Hungary’s accession to the EU on the VAT system, use of a CRM system. Was internal auditor in a leasing company and assisted in configuring a leasing management system,

Worked in translation and interpretation of contract negotiations, an IFRS course and other topics and taught business English.

Lecturing in finance, accounting, data and risk management on Budapest Business School (in Hungarian and English), Sämling and other establishments (including a mini-MBA course).

Raiffeisen Leasing Rt., Budapest (1997-2004)

Chief financial officer, responsible for accounting, finance, MIS (reporting to shareholders in IAS, local statutory accounts and budgeting), including receivables management and IT.

Managed defining and implementing new leasing software developed by TCL (now Advisesoft), later sold to several other leasing companies. Set up independent back office and accounting department. Built up the controlling function. Participated in formulating individual big projects from financial, operational and tax side.

IT and project director, responsible for the IT field including administration and sales systems and strategic project management and organizational matters. Formulating and operating a company-wide project management and resource allocation system, regularly reviewing project status. Also member of the board for a joint venture with Renault Crédit International and responsible for services rendered to the joint venture.

Sodexho Hungary (1995-1997)

Chief financial and administration officer. Implemented Scala and new unit accounting software, united finance and accounting departments of the two Hungarian Sodexho subsidiaries. Appraised investments in new units. Responsible also for local and consolidation reporting, performance appraisal of units and budgeting.

OTP-Deutsche Leasing Kft. (1993-1995)

Managing director. Setting up operations, recruiting staff, directing client acquisition and administration.

Graphisoft Software Development Ltd. (1991-1993)

Finance director, also co-ordinating finances and MIS of subsidiaries in Hungary and sales affiliates in Germany and the U.S. Introduced computerized accounting, started income/expense monitoring. Co-operated with international auditors resp. the investment bank and represented the company while group accounts were audited and prospectus prepared for external investment.

Inter-Europa Bank Ltd. (1989-1991)

Deputy director, controlling and systems, later chief internal auditor. Led definition of core data for the new, computerized administration and information system, liased with departments and implementation consultants. Responsible for telecommunications and SWIFT preparation. Set up audit function and conducted comprehensive and specific area audits.

Commercial and Credit Bank Ltd. (1987-1989)

Created and led the International Operations Department for World Bank and associated domestic loans and initial forms of international finance. Promoted to lead a bank modernization project assisted by the consulting department of Citibank N.A., New York. Took part in selecting project team, established logistics for it and coordinated between the different components of the project and acted as a liaison between the bank and the consultants.

State Development Bank (1983-1986)

Responsible for preferred lending to energy conservation and diversification projects, later heading unit and deputy to Mining and Energy Department head, who reported directly to the deputy chief executive. Personal responsibility included World Bank lending for both construction projects and technical assistance.

 

Professional Affiliations and publications

Society for Organization and Management (Financial and Credit Working Group, deputy chairman 1989-91)

Member of the Board of the Hungarian Leasing Association (1994-2000), head of the accounting and taxation committee.

Have numerous publications including coursebooks in finance, articles on leasing, venture capital, the EU etc.

Wrote some blog articles on data protection.
